Cheiwlan Camp & Resort — A Hidden Jungle Stay Near Khao Sok

If you’re heading into the Khao Sok / Cheow Lan Lake region and want something that feels immersive without blowing your budget, Cheiwlan Camp Resort hits a sweet spot that’s honestly hard to beat.

At around $42 – $55 per night for a private standard room (with a double bed and futon), this place delivers way more atmosphere than you’d expect for the price!

My group of friends and I found this place coincidentally when we arrived in Surat Thani. We just needed a 1 night stay before we started our amazing Khao Sok experience the following morning and we were caught by surprise not only by how beautiful this accommodation was, but also the price and how close it was to Khao Sok.

The Room: Rustic Comfort Meets Jungle

The first thing you’ll notice walking in is the all-wood interior—walls, floors, everything. It gives off that cozy, cabin-in-the-jungle energy that makes you feel like you’re part of the environment rather than just visiting it.

  • Bed setup: Comfortable double bed + futon (great if you’re traveling with extra gear or a third person)
  • Mosquito net: Not just aesthetic—essential and appreciated
  • Air conditioning: Clutch in the Thai humidity
  • Mini fridge + TV: Nice little bonus touches for a remote stay
  • Cleanliness: Simple but well-kept

It’s not luxury—it’s intentional simplicity done right. Think “glamping cabin” more than resort suite.

Location

A Gateway to Cheow Lan Lake – this is where Cheiwlan really shines.

You’re positioned close to Ratchaprapha Dam / Cheow Lan Lake, which is basically the gateway to one of the most beautiful national park landscapes in Thailand. Limestone karsts, emerald water, longtail boats—it’s unreal.

  • Perfect base for lake tours
  • Easy access to Khao Sok National Park
  • Quiet, nature-heavy surroundings (aka: no party noise, just jungle sounds)

At night, it was just us, the trees, and whatever mysterious jungle creature is making that noise outside your cabin (don’t worry… probably harmless… probably).

Food & Amenities

  • On-site restaurant with solid Thai dishes
  • Breakfast options available
  • Staff can help arrange tours and transport

Nothing overly fancy here, but everything is convenient and functional, which is exactly what you want in a place like this.

Service

The staff are genuinely friendly and used to travelers passing through on their Khao Sok adventures.

  • Helpful with tour bookings
  • Can assist with transport logistics
  • Laid-back, welcoming vibe

It’s the kind of place where things feel easy, not transactional.

Value for Money

Let’s be real—$42/night for a private jungle cabin near one of Thailand’s most stunning natural areas?

That’s a steal.

You’re not paying for luxury finishes—you’re paying for:

  • Location
  • Atmosphere
  • Experience

And it absolutely delivers on all three.

Things to Keep in Mind

Because no place is perfect (and we keep it honest here):

  • It’s a rustic stay—don’t expect high-end resort polish
  • Bugs are part of the deal (you’re in the jungle… they live here, you’re the guest)
  • Limited nightlife or nearby attractions outside nature-based activities

Final Verdict

Cheiwlan Camp Resort is one of those places that enhances the experience of travel rather than just giving you a place to sleep.

If you’re exploring Khao Sok or Cheow Lan Lake and want something:

  • Affordable
  • Immersive
  • Comfortable enough without losing the adventure vibe

This is a fantastic pick.
